it doesn't bother me that much if we go back to evolution. I could see some amc owner of a different model come here and wonder " why does everyone own an eagle here?"

For some reason some AMC purists see the AMC Eagle as AMC's bastard child.

 Which may explain why I laugh when Eagle owners try so damn hard to keep their Eagle "all AMC".

im just trying to keep from damaging certain parts that are amc related and a pain in the butt to find. don't want to cut or drill on the dash as I am trying to keep it intact. if the car is ever turned to parts it can be used to bring another one back in near stock condition. nothing stoping me from wanting to someday do a sas swap on it though.

AMC Eagles are probably the only AMC cars that are for the most part routinely operated as intended. Most Eagle owners are not fair weather owners and I have yet to see an AMC Eagle Trailer Queen. Sometimes, we have to compromise between as built and upgraded to improve driveablity and safety. The only thing that really bugs me is when some other brand of motor is installed when the old I6 is so easily upgraded using AMC designed engines, including the 4.0.

glad im not the only one who hates it. I don't like it when jeeps have a sbc in it. I have seen a fsj with a 454 in it also. if I do an engine swap in a jeep, its getting a amc v8. the eagle sees the road daily right now. after it gets repainted it will still see the road daily. on the other hand I don't drive a fifth avenue every day as the car is in good condition for its age and I want to keep it in that condition even though its an Kenosha built 88. the opera lights? (lights in door) even work yet!! :P I don't see driving the car daily and want to keep it in the shape it is in, instead of it slowly deteriating.. Id rather see the car driven instead of trailered to the shows and everywhere.

I6 upgrades might not be available in that persons area, or in their budget range. I know all too well being willing to do damn near anything, so long as the overall vehicle stays running & useful. If that means putting a sbc in, then why not? And, when it comes down to it, it's their property, they can do whatever they damn well want to it, & who are we to judge?

Example: I do not like lowriders, ricers/tuners, nor their ilk. I can, from a mechanical point of view, appreciate the work that goes into them. Aesthetically, practicality, cannot fathom nor desire them, at all. Exact same thing with using non-AMC or AMC derived motors. You don't have to like it, just respect that person's choice.

that's true

its really funny in car shows that have a poker run and a parade to see the tow rig in the poker run, and then the car on the side of the road having issues during the parade. you can just about tell who trailers there cars everywhere.
