Yup, that's how it usually works out.

ive seen around 25 only once, and that was on the trip home from buying it, that was with a then shitty running 258, on interstate running around 60-65 for 400+ miles, later found out there was a ball joint that had pushed through :o which explained why there was a vibration above 65

65 must be the 'shit is fucked up' sweet spot, because mine used to shake above 65 and I replaced some front end stuff and it stopped.

no specifications of what I6 here, so ill give you both my amc I6 mpg's.

honeybadger: 82 sx4, 4.0 head, 1.08 mc2100 carb, header of some sort for the 4.0 head huffin thru full 2 1/4" exhaust with a magnaflow muffler. 215/75/15 toyo tires, regeared to 3.07's. 4 speed manual. right now at 55 mph i spin about 2050 rpms. its around 15-17 mpg when im not towing a trailer. trailer on, its about 10. with the old 2.35 gears, on flat ground, at 55-60 mph i was gettin around 24 mpg. when i had to go the other direction and pull the big mountain passes, it was down around 12mpg having to run 3rd gear and maybe making 50 mph.

casper: 1962 rambler classic custom 2 door 196 3 speed man. 3.78 gear then. pulling 2 big mountain passes, and a 120 mile round trip, i averaged 26.5 mpg. i put in a 3 speed man with o/d and the rear axle went to a 4.11 rear gear. motor lost a rod bearing right after that. gettin a motor in this spring and will see what happens! o, thats with a single bbl holley 1909 carb, and 2" exhaust with magnaflow muffler also. and the tires were bfg kdws 245/45/17's off an '05 frod mustang. REAL close to original diamiter tires.

Yes, they are excellent cruisers. They love that 2000 - 2100 rpm range.

I really haven't bothered to do the math on mine, but I know once I did all the ignition and carb mods on my eagle (and fixed the fuel leak) I cut my consumption in half. So I gotta be in the 20's somewhere.

As long as I keep it under 105 kms, and not drive with a heavy foot, it uses little fuel. and I have 205's for tires on her.
