I just finished pulling a 4.3 v-6 that has a spun rod bearing from my son's s-10. Now waiting for the pick an pull to get a good engine pulled for me. Arnt kids fun!

what year? thru the 90's and 2000's they used plastic intake gaskets impregnated with a rubber/silicone sealing ring. the plastic rots out, and they leak horribly around the water passages. it would be MUCH easier to install the improved design felpro intake gaskets before you install the engine. the felpro gaskets are an aluminum gasket that has rubber sealing rings on each side of the aluminum, instead of thru it like the plastics. MUCH better.

Yes sir I have had to change one too many of those myself...dam GM. The engine we picked up was from a 4x4 so since the s 10 is 2wd we had to switch a few things pluse the 4x4 motor was a vortec and ours was not so we switched intakes also since I wanted to keep the old throttle body to make fuel lines hook up eaiser. Engine should go in today and then I will be done with this project! Good things its somewhat warmish out...

I lost 2 of those 4.3 engines due to overheating ....... good engine when they work the way they should :mrgreen:
