The PT has an appointment at 8am tomorrow. Put on diagnostics to see what they will say, then go from there.
Thinking that it's the actual gasket that went bad, not the head blown... but we'll see. Either way it's going to cost quite a bit I am sure.... it's going to hurt! No moneys for Eagle stuff :waah:.

Sounds like the shop didn't tighten the drain plug (look for oil there first) or the filter (left the old filter gasket on?) or the oil pressure sender is leaking. First two are shop malfeasance but the last is maintenance or injury (shop monkey hit it with a wrench while changing oil).

That was the first thing I looked at and checked Saturday after work... nice and tight and no leaks coming from there.
It is coming from the seam where the head and block meet.

Yea, there's a ton of nice ones out there. Have seen some tubed out and set up for strip as well.
Surprisingly, PT's do have their own following... but I guess everything probably does.

Took it in.
Turns out it is the head gasket. It's not blown, figured it wasn't since there was no coolant mixed in.
Had been prepping myself for $1,000- $1,200 tops.
But they said it'll be $1,892.00 (before taxes) for it to get done. And about 12 hours of labor.
This is going to hurt.

Definitely no Eagle moneys anytime soon :waah:

Sounds way high to me.. 1,800 plus labor? Hope that 1800 has machining cost included. but ouch, and I'm fussing over a column.. I'll stop it now.

But I'm reading at work and see that that is with labor. for 12 hours labor I guess that not bad. But a motor in my van was cheaper than that to install..
and it had a 30k+ mile warranty with it..

The $1,892.00 is everything (parts, labor & machining) just not taxes.

Still think maybe see what the cost of a motor is. Less labor involved to swap a long block over..

I blew a valve in my Caravan and was about that for a full motor, and it did include a warranty.
Doubt replacing the gasket will give you a warranty on the motor. So just saying if replacing the motor gets you security for the cost of a gasket why mess with it..

They said a new motor would be $3k-$4k for the PT.
They do give a warranty for what they are doing, though it's a measly 12k/12mo.
And this is the dealership/service dept we're talking about , we all know they ask more for what they do & their parts. Not much to choose from around here and I need it back asap so I can go to work.

I went to a motor that had 80k and a good warranty.. So I guess that may be reason for difference on cost.. Just wanted to say there was an option.
