The GMC V12 is a large spark-ignition engine that was manufactured from 1960 to 1965. The engine displaces 702 cubic inches and has two carburetors. It is rated at an anemic 250 hp and 585 ft lbs torque at 2400 rpm.

In contrast, the Rolls-Royce Merlin V12 engine that powered Spitfire and Mustang fighters and Lancaster bombers during WWII displaced 1650 cubic inches and produced up to 1500 hp at 3000 rpm. The Merlin was first placed in production in 1936 and was built until 1950.

Fuel mileage was horrible...3 mpg at best. Today, no commercial operator can operate it and expect to make money. I haven't seen a GMC V12 in operation since the early 70s. :eagle:
