Chrysler is refusing to recall Jeeps. Gas tank (plastic) supposedly busts open in a crash & catches fire.

My Patriot has a metal tank, the same as found on other vehicles built on the same platform. It is behind the rear axle.

Good news there. Wasn't sure if anybody here had one or not. Figured I'd throw that out J.I.C.

Ya like in fight club where the guy works for the insurance company that decides whether they just eat a few death lawsuits or actually goes and recalls a product. Fucking sick.

They probably needed time to gear up to replace those tanks with ???? Apparently metal tanks are OK in the rearward location. That is what my Patriot has.

If they recall metal tanks next, does that go for AMCs too? That's probably the last thing Chrysler wants to fix, an AMC.

I think we are safe. But it would be nice to get a free new gas tank, sender and attaching parts.
