I only have a paperback Chilton manual to go by, I've no accurate info to go by. I have an '87 Eagle wagon that I've had since 2004; She's got 323,325 miles now and I'm thinking of dropping the ratio from the 2.73 to 3.08 or 3.36[?]. The engine is a 258 out of an earlier Jeep and healthy with HEI and all the computer crap and smog junk gone, etc. Will the lower gearset fit my housing? It has the limited-slip differential. Any info would be appreciated. I know I need to change both front and rear sets.

found this thread that covers the front axle m not sure on the rear but, they may have information on that as well as that forum has been going for quite a while so the chance is there that someone has already tried what you want to do.
