Some boats as well. However you have to change a bunch of crap. Also they had higher hp ratings than there car counterparts . Atleast my boat did.

Didn't the Grummans use the small bell pattern? (60 degree vs SBC) I know some DJs used them. http://postaljeep.net

Not all Iron Dukes are the same. The main categories:

1) 1977 and 1978 (80 HP) Chevy cars like the Monza, the boat motor Mercruiser 120 HP 2.5L, the Mercruiser 140 HP 3.0L, are all non-crossflow heads with the distributor by the fuel pump. I have one in my Kammback. Bolt patterns are the same as the AMC Iron Duke. The Mercruiser engines are easy to use in cars if you ditch the RPM limited boat dizzy and carbs. The boat oil pan doesn't work but it's interchangeable with the stock Eagle oil pan.

2) Mercruiser 170 HP and 190 HP 3.7L "Iron Dukes" in boats: Nothing internally shared with the Chevy dukes since it uses a Ford Head and Pistons but the external bolt patterns are the same since Mercruiser wanted those engines to be interchangeable with their 3.0L and 2.5L Iron Dukes. They will not accept AMC Eagle oil pans and the boat one would never fit in a car, so extensive fabrication of oil pans and manifolds would be necessary to use one of these in an Eagle.

3) 1979 Chevy Iron Dukes and '80 to '83 AMC Iron Dukes: Only one year of Chevy Iron Dukes, 1979, is the same as the AMC dukes since AMC got the tooling after Chevy started using the new bolt pattern. Crossflow head and SBC transmission pattern. The distributor moved from the hole with a cover plate by the fuel pump to a new hole further back to make room for the crossflow head.

4) 1980 on Chevy Iron Dukes: The rear transmission bolt pattern is different but the crank is the same and other major parts are the same. A 1980 to 1983 Chevy Iron Duke IS NOT the same as a 1980-83 AMC Iron Duke.

I just noticed the Shakey Too (Chevy II) isn't there and I had '62 through '66 Nova, Acadians, and Chevy IIs with the 4 popper.

I think that was the Chevy 153 engine and not the Pontiac 151 that was used by AMC. Both are 2.5L engines.
