Yep, Paula mentioned something about after the update we won't be able to log in with our old accounts. I imagine there might have been some legal issues with the swap and keeping everyones logins. So we'll have to create new users...though I'm guessing we can use the same usernames as before...

Once upon a time, non contributing members, were deleted if they did not have a single post in over a year. The nest did not want to present, like most other sites do, an inflated member count. Its the number of active members that count, not how many you pretend you have.

My first account got deleted. I'm hoping to find my first post once the restore is finished.

I disagree with that policy. I spent alot of time on the Nest in 2002 just learning and nearly never posting. That should be encouraged, since the people who benefit from the Nest as noobs are the ones that have alot to offer and huge post counts a decade later. What is the harm in having an inflated member list?

I also dislike that the Nest had sections closed to guests. When my first account got deleted I just used the guest function for years. I didn't know that whole sections were unavailable to me.

That is good to know Capt. That policy was de-implemented later on for the very reasons you stated. I am not sure what boards Steve still keeps blocked from guests viewing them.

Gil, Sr. passed away. The Gil we know from the Nest is alive and well, he is Gil Jr.

OH!!!! Gotcha. That's what confused me...mostly since I never knew Gil from the nest...who is apparently Gil Jr. It all makes sense now!

that whole bit was confusing for sure. I just noticed that the Gil we all saw posting just stopped. didn't seem to be any rhyme or reason just gone.
