bulb is none existent in honeybadger, and my wagon. honeybadger, who knows if someone else pulled the bulb before. it had 127k on it when I got it. my wagon however, I don't think it had been messed with. it only has 20k on it, and didn't appear to ever have ANYTHING done to it. it still has AMC logo belts, hoses and plug wires. the p.o. of my wagon said they hadn't done nothing to it but replace the fuel pump.

Where would the timer be? I know what it looks like and where to look for it on the XJ's but it's not right up under the dash in plain view like the XJ.

EM light timer from XJ for reference:

Only other thing I'm wondering is why it would be powered up only when the ignition is off.

If it matters this is a factory high altitude car.

Mitchel prodemand calls it an "E cell timer". and wiring diagrams show it ONLY for 4 cyl cars. says "e cell timer" located under dash, on left side. that's all I got. that's looking up an 87 eagle. and even there, the information they have is limited, other than on vintage. vintage is where I can find the wiring diagram that shows it only for a 4 cyl car.

I kinda had the feeling it was only for the 4cyl cars, this is weird.

I think it was planned for the Eagles to get EFI from Renault then the assassination killed the deal and almost took out Renault too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georges_Besse

I bet AMC would still be around had the EFI made it to the Eagle but that's a different story.

Pulling the plug on the computer tomorrow and will see what happens.

Reach up behind and pull the bulb out then check for power drain at the battery
