Ah, thanks for that. Don't think it would make a difference on mine since I have an '82, but I do have the sensor on my intake since the engine was replaced. I believe you mean the top front of the intake, here's a thread I found from the Eagle Nest that you commented on: http://forums.amceaglenest.com/index.php?topic=40088.0

ok if it is this knock sensor bad would it make the engine make a noise? An if I would change to a clifford intake & do away with the computer will I still need a knock sensor? When I swap carbs how many sensors are hooked to it?

I've found out that the computer still has it's hand in the ignition system, there have been members that have figured out how to bypass this. If you're not in a smog area, and there is little to no chance of it becoming a smog area you would be able to get rid of it. However if your car would ever have to pass a visual emissions check, you would need the stock setup.

For a bit I was thinking I was posting on the nest.

I live in Charleston WV a none smog area most people here have not seen these cars in bout 20 years an is just glad to see one on the road again. After I get some stuff done to it I am planning to do away with the ignition & do like MSD or something.

ok been a while since been on here had the car on an off the road since last time. As of right now going to swap out plastic valve cover with aluminum one & going to replace valves, replace oil pump & do motor flush on it were the car sat so long when I got it. I am going to replace the carter bio feedback carb with a motorcraft 2100 carb I had a guy rebuilt it for $30. So I need to see what needs to be done to swap the carter feedback carb out with a regular non feedback carb?

NUTTER bypass (written up in Eaglepedia) (or swap in an HEI), adjust timing, and find the correct adaptor plate for the 2100 to carter pattern. Ebay is a good bet, Mike Erhman? I think is the seller

Which vacuums lines will stay will depend on if you want to keep the smog equipment on or not. If you do keep it smogged then the only vac lines to remove would be the ones for the intake 'flaps'. Otherwise the Ebay seller gronk can sell you everything you need and give you all the instructions you'll need, although I wouldn't get his TFI conversion because he'll give you a coil that mount on the fender rather on the block.

This is what a full gutting will look like
