so there are classes that the big parts stores put on every so often. our shop pays for them, and usually turn out quite informative with all this new tech out on cars today and teaching us how to diagnose them ect.

so, we are about 3/4 thru this 4 hour class. and the instructor is talking about using as many parts possible (computers/sensors/modules ect) in as many models as possible to cut down production costs. then he goes "so there used to be this car called the rambler..." the 3 of us there from our shop just busted out laughing, and I start saying "I JUST CANT CATCH A DAMNED BREAK CAN I!!!". the 20 or so other people in the class and instructor all look kinda puzzled and the instructor says something about "I musta struck a nerve somehow over there." after the class is over, us 3 are still laughing, and the instructor asks "so how did I get that bust out now?" and one of the guys from our shop goes "ask him, he has 5 amc's" he looks at me and goes "WOW, THATS A NEW ONE!!" I said ya, I have 2 early 60's ramblers, a spirit and 2 eagles". then, on the 40 mile ride back to the shop, I got to hear all the old amc jokes again. and all day today. was entertaining none the less.

Yes!!!! As much as others may bust balls about the little guy (amc) 30 years later, and that little fucker still gets me where I need to be, anytime I ask it to. Lets see a yota top that (my chevy failed that test 13 years ago, it was 20 at the time).. Frugal doesn't always mean poor quality.

I've been getting crap about driving older stuff, and that I should join everyone else and drive newer stuff. All I can say is atleast my transfer case still works, and isn't screwed up like the opinionated commentor. I wanted to pull that dodge out that night with the eagle. At least it was pulled out by a chevy :lmao:

one of the guys I work with, who was probably the first one to bust the loudest laugh at that class, was the one a year ago when I FIRST met him, as soon as he got told im an AMC guy looked at me and said "YOU CANT FIX STUPID CAN YOU!!!"

that comment still to this day pisses me off, but the dude is pretty cool. its one of those things about being an amc guy. you hear all the crap but make it enjoyable when people go WTF when you drive by....

My last Chev (81 C20) lasted 10 years, but it wasn't a daily driver (5th wheel hauler and back up rig) My J4000 lasted the same and I'd still be driving it if I hadn't rolled it due to a horse on the road (right where we recently hand a landslide)
