I've heard many complaints about the renix era cooling system, never used one myself, I converted mine to the conventional style from the HO years, right off the bat.

The renix system hasn't been a problem for me on the Comanche yet, will have to see on the cherokee. The Comanche still has the c101 connector that is supposed to be issue prone, I haven't removed it yet as it adds to the Amc quirkiness, and I havent looked at how chryco removed it yet.

I did a '91 XJ rad (with cap) and rerouted the hoses to toss that bottle 10 years ago.

Had the xj in the snow last weekend, did fairly well, but have to put the skid plate on it to keep snow out of the engine compartment, flushed the heater core, and have warm air now. Just trying to fix door locks, to put the door panels on and start driving it. Sadly it is a Amc part, and new ones don't seem to exist.

what part of the door lock is troubling you? I believe 84-95 most of the lock stuff is interchangable and 84-91 I think used GM passenger car door lock stuff

Previous owner lost the keys, and drilled out one lock. Already have a fix for the rear hatch, just have to finish the front. It's looking like a couple of ford lock cylinders will work. Will have to see how it goes. In other entertainment, the skid plate is now on the front of the jeep, and the wheels are painted silver again, and are suitable for the comanche.

I don't think ford cylinders are the same because the 80s fords where double cut keys (if I remember right, I don't deal with anything ford anymore) and the AMC era cherokees use the gm style ignition and the door keys very closely resemble gm keys as well

Even though the key is different, the '60s'70s Ford car door lock cylinder works with the Eagle lock's arm on it and minor hole filing. I've done it. Ignition is common GM at least. '84 to '90 Cherokee should also work for the door. After that, it's a Chrysler key (I had a '92)

Have extra old ford cylinders, had one without a key fit, so have to pull a few out this spring, will be locking the tailgate from the inside, so the problem is solved there. Drove it on pavement for the first time tonight, and found what I believe to be a form of death wobble, and that the track arm is shot. It's going to town tomorrow to play in the snow. NWS is predicting 4-6 inches of snow, possibly more or less. Not bad for a scrap price xj though. Price trippledmwith the sound system, and tires though

Had the dash out of the Cherokee over the weekend, I've now got a better understanding of how the HVAC system is setup, similar to the package tray on the eagle, only the dash substructure is the ductwork. It looks as if it wouldn't be easy to switch dashes as the vin is riveted to the plastic substructure in 89 much like the Chrysler around the timeperiod and earlier.

Check with the local auto inspection (State Patrol does them here and RCMP did in Canada) about a combined vehicle with VINs.
