I'm curious if it is really a 3.07. I don't trust that he actually knows what he has. He claimed to have gotten it from a 1980 Sport wagon. In 1980 all the Eagles were 3.07. In later years you could special order 3.55 gears in high altitude and towing packages, but I don't think any of those options were available in 1980.

I was taken back by the claim of it coming from a 1980 since it has an axle disconnect, but later in his description he said he swapped out the axle tube, shift mechanism, and axle to make this 1980 axle a disconnect axle now.

Yes he has. Had radio bezels a while back and I've talked to him on the phone before.

I didn't read all that much into it but figured I'd post it for expert like opinion.

Right now I'm trying to get my D30 re geared for a rear axle swap. I have 2 front axles currently. 1 a disconnect and 1 from an early FT 4x4.. What should I get built if I can make a choice?

The early non-disconnect is probably your safer bet. A later shift on the fly non-disconnect would still be a problem so we need more information to know for sure. The later 2.35 castings were the problem child. The '81 2.35 casting was fine and '82 was a transition year, where I think it was the disconnects were bad and the nondisconnects were good. Anything already higher than 2.35 ratio will be fine.

When I looked it would seem all 4 axle are 2.73. The non disconnect is from an early 81, manual transmission.

Kammy has a manual currently but honestly not sure what the axles are look original to car. Think I looked at the stamp and it was 2.73 also

If I bring them in, $1500 to do the pair with parts (re-using the front gears)
