A '56 Rambler Eagle! Same body style as the '57 Rambler Rebel which could blow the doors off of a Vette non fuel injected, and most other production cars of the time.

We're allowed to go to Cuba now?

I'd like to see more of that Rambler up underneath

that rambler appears to have been modified a bit. i see a 5 on the shifter, indicating a 5 speed trans. besides, those were either column shifted, or dash mounted push button shifter iirc. would be interesting to see the underside of it.

Us Canadians have always been allowed to go to Cuba; best place to get away from Americans while on holiday. :blazin:

Some cool rides there! What are the first two cars? The first looks like a mini IH Scout?

The second one is a Renault R5 -- late 70's early 80's.

The first one looks like a Lada.

Who's we? I'm Canadian. America have the 'embargo' on Cuba, not Canada.

The top pic is a Lada Niva. I'm guessing early to mid 90's. they did sell Lada Niva's in Canada.... last I heard was about '95. I knew someone who bought one in Nova Scotia. after that, I'm not sure.

I don't have anymore pics of the Rambler, but I do have a really cool picture of a lime green 'donked' out Lada from cuba.

First one is a Lada Niva, an amazing little 4x4, actually it's the first SUV ever built..and done so in Russia! They have a HUGE following, those fuckers make Jeeps look like their are glass, that's just how tough they are built. Size wise they are pretty small cars, about the size of a Dodge Raider (Mitsubishi Pajero), or a Samurai (but not as tall).

If you open the hood the spare tire is in the front, as well as a toolkit that will fix almost any part of the car...and that was all manufacturer equipped! That's just how much they believed in their vehicles. They bring them over here now and again, and people swear by them since they are so rugged.

If I could find one I'd buy it in a fucking heart beat. They are made to run in extreme conditions...I mean the conditions of Russia. Unpaved roads with ruts 2 feet deep, -40 degree weather, heavy solid axles, skids, tough as fuck body. I'd give myself a BJ in public to get one off the assembly line.

I have high hopes with the pending Canada - European free/open trade deal in the works, because it covers import/export of vehicles!!

They used one in an episode of Top Gear UK, it was about Russian cars. They really liked it but Jeremy had to be a fool as always and get mad at it, but he did like it.
