It will be revealed today in about a half hour. The picture they show at Jeep, shows something that does not look like a Cherokee. From what I have read previous to this, that it is a restyled Liberty that is a bit bigger.

I agree. One post production rendering had it looking more like the real deal. Jeep heard from its customers back in when the Liberty and Compass came out that they did not want to buy the new styled stuff. The Patriot was the closest in looks but many shied away because of the CVT trans and 4 banger. I like my Patriot and the CVT poses no driving or acceleration problems at all, like the detractors state.

So the video starts out showing the "rugged, more capable" Cherokee driving down a typical back county Iowa road, showing its capability??? What I found ironic and I doubt these new day Jeep people realized it, was the two or three shots of an Eagle soaring overhead. Oh wait, what was the original XJ test bed? WOW 239 foot pounds of torque from the V6 -- gee our poor little 4.2's had only 210 at only 1800 rpm. What a great improvement that is!

congratulations Chrysler, or is it crapsler? you have built a new suv and a v6 that has less than a 4.0 high output. I know think I am going to stay with the amc designed jeeps. at least they new what they were doing with styling. I think an eagle is more of a "trail rated vehicle than that. :sly:

I have a feeling Jeep is trying to lure in new buyers and forgetting the faithful (again). They are really missing a marketing opportunity by not making something they can sell a ton of aftermarket goodies for. Well, I am keeping my Patriot. I have heard rumors they are going to keep it, the Patriot, around, but ditch the CVT for a 6 speed auto. I saw somewhere the new, "Loosertee", is built on the Dodge Dart platform.

Not a fan either. The only thing on it that says Jeep about it anymore is the grill and even that is iffy. Looks like they are trying to compete with the higher end suv's out there (i.e. Infiniti, Mercedes, Lexus).
ETA: Also, want to add that now it just looks like a bigger version of the Compass.

The XJ's whole rear seat bottom flipped up to reveal "hidden" storage. That is where the jack was kept. Clever.
