I believe Doug and I brought this up in another topic, either here or on the main page, but I have put the idea of a greasable front hub into effect. This is very new, so I have no clue whether or not it will help prolong bearing life, but I know my old ones failed due to them drying out, not fatigue of materials. So my thoughts were, why couldn't I drill a hole and add a grease fitting? That way at every brake job, I can gease the hubs :blazin: . Like I said, I've only been running the mod hub for about a week, so no real time tests, just theory. I apologize now for the shitty pics, still have the same old shitty cell phone :homebob: .

This has to be done while the hub is apart, like say for new bearings :lmao: . First you need to plan where your hole will be drilled, there is a small flat inbetween the two bearing races you need to aim for.

The hole must be drilled at an angle for this to work, a ruler can help you determine the angle needed.

If you measured right, or guessed right (take your pick), you end up with this.

right on target  .

Pretty straight forward, next drill the a little bigger for better grease flow, then enlage the outside to accept the grease fitting.

Get out the proper sized tap for the fitting, run some threads.

Install the fitting.

Reassemble, or have the hub assembly reassembled for you, if you don't have the equippment, and install on the car.

Giggity

Very interesting. Keep us posted on how it works out. Does the grease get to both bearings? I have a couple old hubs that might see that mod. I don't think I will do that to my pair of NOS ones.

BTW we need a Quagmire emoticon for the giggety.

That we do, lol.

Being that the fitting is between the bearings it should get to both, there's nothing to stop it anyway, I hope, lol.

Ok. Are you going to put this in the How To section of the Wiki?

I don't know how to add to the new wiki. I've looked for where to make an account but it doesn't give the option.

I see your user name is shaggimo, you would have to ask p0wn though about your password
