Out of curiosity, has anyone here tried using xj bumpers on an eagle. We don't have many spirits or eagles around this area, but xjs are plentiful, and mjs ocasionaly appear in the junk yard. If i find a rust free eagle, I think all of the plastic will becoming off, so I can keep it clean, and make it look taller. This will not happen to my 85, as I don't want to drive around without rocker panels, and holes in my from fenders. I hope there is no hidden rust on the mj as that has a good chance of being repainted colorado red.

I thought about doing it at one point as maybe an easy way out for the sx/4, being it's flareless. Would've been more work than it's worth, I think there was a width issue too. I can't remember the exacts of it (thinking back years ago), but not as simple of a swap as one might think, there would be a considerable amount of fab work involved to make them look decent, and not just cobbled on.

thanks, I should compare the two closer sometime myself, I don't have access to a rear bumper though, and I don't think an eagle would look good with a pickup bumper on the back

If you were close to Seattle. I have a front and maybe a rear from an XJ kicking around. Just for fun I may fit the '93 Grand Cherokee bumper cover on my Eagle wagon.

I would be interested in seeing haow that turns out, as the next eagle, if in decent condition, will not have any plastic flares on it. I really need to find an xj that I could kill in the salt instead though, as I wouldn't want to help kill another eagle. if only selec-trac Cherokees were plentiful around here as they work nice on the crappy roads around here.

I liked the new xj bumpers so i parked right next to one on a dealer lot with the eagle. The sales man came running out, i had told him i didnt want the xj. Just the bumper, i then took out my tape measure and compared. It is about a foot wider than the eagle and he would not sell me just the bumper...lol

Only the corners are different from later model Spirits (same rear as SX4) and Concords.

Bumpers are different too, they are wider on the 2wd cars. I tried just using the end caps on my sx, no go. Rears would be possible with trimming and shaping(they will really hug the body), but not the fronts.

Right Shagg, you can't mix and match.

I'm using the little black ends that come with the concord bumper. Basically I'm just using the whole thing. They will bolt up.
