Well I think spring has arrived here in Wisconsin. I got into the garage to clean out all of winters garbage and do some garage maintenance itself. Then I went to get the 76 hornet out to replace the eagle for the summer and found it needed a new idler arm. Had to order the part, got to love cars. So the eagle lives for a few more days, have to get the hornet going first.

I replaced the passenger side strut bushing and removed the idler arm on the hornet today. Now I wait for the new arm to show up

This morning we got 2" of wet snow and the low temp for tonight is supposed to be 18. So I will wait for a warmer day, maybe tommrow. I had noticed the trans outta this jeep looks to be a 42re. It seems allot smaller than the aw4 and is seems that if I were to use this one it would fit better in the eagle than the aw4.

Well I dropped the hornet off at the alignment shop tonight. Once they get her straightened out I will start driving her so I can get the motor and trans outta the eagle. All for the sake of fuel injection...

What year XJ did you peel the engine out of? I'm going to do the same, shopping around for a rusted out Jeep with a good engine in it.

You go with ODB1 or 2?

It is a 93 with the obd1. This is my second vehicle that I have done it to. The other was the obd1 as well. It was just what I could cheaply find at the time. I think both systems are good. The engine in this one is wore out but my 4.2 is good so thats why just the head swap with fuel system. I can get the 4.0 head redone for $100 and hang on to the block for a stroker later on

From what I've read you want 91-95. That's the newer HO engine with OBD1. The 96+ OBDII systems can apparently reek havoc with some of the electrical stuff no longer plugged in.
