Wow. Just amazing work man. Keep it up. I wish I possessed the skills and tools needed to do this kind of work. It really looks like top notch work. Every detail and curve, for the most part it seems.

Ít is time to work with my Jeepster...

I´m going to do some sandblasting some day before it is winter again... so I have to do some welding... again.

Started with rocker panels.
They are in two pieces. Rear one is actually a part of side panel... but it has been welded to inner parts, so let´s call it outer rear rocker panel... :epiphany:

So this is how it looked when I removed all bondo...
Just enough so I could copy its shape and take all measurements. Under bondo there was a deep dent. Something had hit door and side panel and rear fender some years ago...

Image

The other side was very bad...

Image

Here is that nice bondo repair...

Image

What to do?

First... cut a piece of sheet metal and do some bending...

Image

Then spend some time with english wheel and cutting and testing... both sides at the same time...

Image

Open that damaged and rusted area, do some rust removal job and then paint it...

Image

Weld every parts needed together to create new rocker panel...

Image

Tack weld it to body...

Image

But that is not all you need!

Rocker panel had a "roof" that needs to be replaced with new sheet metal.
I used old one as tamplate...

Image

And some testing.... It fits!

Awesome Juhap!, I'm sure I've said it before, but it deserves being mentioned again, you are sheetmetal wizard :blazin:

Thank you of those kind words, but I´m just learning this form of art... Metal shaping is so difficult, that you can never learn it. (that is my opinion)
I managed to destroy drivers side panel that I made together with the other. Too much heat when welding and too much pressure on english wheel...

I have tried to be in my garage for two days now, because it has been too hot to do any other work. Hot sunny summer days... We haven´t had those heavy rains and thunder like nearby towns did... floods and such... just hot sunny days.

Yesterday I did something.
Had upper part of the sill welded and cut rusty sheet metal and did a pattern for new parts...
Made some mechanical and chemical rust removal job. And while paint dried I made a part under the door.

Image

Here is the unlucky panel I almost destroyed. I could save it... It needs a little job to be perfect.

Image

I made this panel yesterday. Today it was time to finish it.

Image

And I had it done this far. Tomorrow it is OK and welded to the upper part...
