The factory board was discarded since I applied fiberglass and I was horrorized with the final work and its terrible harmful smell.

This is the new board made of glued kraft paper.

ALSO I was working in build a cargo area cover, adapting a roller blind from Ikea, and a wood corner.

This is the final look of the cargo cover.
Till now it don´t works correctly since it don´t roll back.

I must find a way to keep extended and not wrinkled.

Yesterday I took a look at it and I am not happy with the finish, I am considering to disassemble again.

I think it will be possible to attach to the inner roof, some material like the isolation board for the hood, cutting pieces to adapt to the roof surface, and over this material glue the headliner garment, fortunately i bought enough lenght of garment for 2 headlinings.

Now just I unassembled the pathetic headliner, even my head touch it, becuase it isn´t flat.

Hi,
Do you or anybody have any decent Rear hatch Hinges for the Eagle or Hornet Sportabout?
Thanks much!

Oh also if anyone has some Broken or Breaking Rear Hatch Hinges I would like some for testing the viability of possible repair and strengthening procedures, May be able to strengthen to keep em from breaking, not just the JB Weld procedure on YouTube.
;)

I think I only have one kit and I must keep for an emergency. Time ago I sold one pair to Juhapp in Finland, and I cannot lost the last unit.

Anyway I will take a look to be sure if I am had something more for sale.

Sometimes some kit appears for sale on Ebay. I got all my replacements from Ebay, since I live in Europe, I don´t have anymore ways to get it, because this car is very rare, althought it was saled in Europe along until 1985.

About JB Weld, it works with the hatch hinges?

Hi Bert and Thanks for the reply :)

Yeah they are becoming very hard to find.
I could kick myself a few times for missing out on some good ones. I picked up a whole hatch from the pick-a-part but did not have the deep socket(I forgot I had em out of my ammo box for other work) needed to reach the upper nuts that hold the hinges so I had to remove the hatch from the hinges and leave them there some years back, I would maybe see multiple AMC cars in the yard and a few Eagles at once to boot... I should have grabbed a bad pair around that time too I saw but I had not thought of repairing yet and thought these would be easier to find since they were on so many years of cars, the Sportabout run and the Eagle run. Seems like there should be a stockpile left over somewhere, they may not have an idea what they have. Might think they were for an Ice Box door or something LOL.
Whoever made them for AMC missed the mark, if they(makers) were going to use cast crap like that it should have had a steel reinforcement cast into it at least. AMC was pretty good at things being at least strong enough+.

I missed a pair on eBay about a year back I forgot to check into again that went for a steal and I noticed a pair went in May for not a bad price, I started looking just days after.

Well I do not know how much just JB Weld alone can really help as its flexibility seems like it would be a little more than the metal has, it may provide a small percentage of extra strength at least.

On YouTube is a video I think just called Eagle (Hatch?) Hinge Repair. They remove them and slap JB on the underside. I am thinking maybe I could do something better but need to test. I don't want to touch mine.

Yes if you plan on keeping your Eagle and have a set of spares I recommend keeping them in case.
Take care, :)

BTW - Nice Headliner and Cargo cover info bertosalceda! Thanks!
Does the rain really fall mainly on the plain there? LOL. ;)

I dropped these handmade headliner since it has a lot of weight, beacuse it was made of glued paperboard (I dropped the original rockwool board because I considered carcinogenic)

About the water leaks it cames from the old hatch weatherstrip, only rain in cargo area, I tried to glue many times to reinforce it, and it looks in good condition, but i think it lose its original shape.

One year ago, in june 2015 if got from Ebay one totally new, manufactured in 2001 by Mopar, it cost 100USD and thanks to the help of a friend from Tennessee, I got shipped to Spain.

Still now a few water frops leaks thru the cargo area glasses, but from the hatch opening, now there are no leaks.

Hi I have one hatch hinge alone which I can afford to sale, since I bought various kits and for the moment I replaced only 1 hatch hinge. Apart of this one alone I have a complete pair which I can´t sale. Time ago, I sold my second pair to Juhapp of Finland.

So, please, which is the side of the hinge do you need, or your need the 2 hatch hinges?

Please let me know

Alberto from Spain
