Hello again from overseas

The blue Eagle from Spain, Europe is definitively at a paint-metal mechanic.

Previous torqueflite work

I hate its blue face, since it remember me a lot of mechanical problems in the last years and I prefer to paint it like a genuine AMC eagle, and not a conversion made by its previous owner trying to paint it like an ordinary blue car.

THIS IS THE NEW BURGUNDY FACE ON 2014, after the paintshop work.

Since last July 29th, all this was done, and for me was a surprise when 2 days ago, returning from a vacational trip, I saw all this work done.

In Spain this kind of work is mostly refused, I asked in various paint workshops in the last years, and nobody want to do this kind of repair if there is needful to replace metal body panels.

Months ago I tried to start this same work at another paint workshop and after 3 weeks which the car sleeping under the rain in a "prairie" nothing was done, so I took the car to continue with another different works in a mechanical workshop (replacing shock absorbers).

That is the way to repaint a car. Strip it all down and do it right. Looking good.

Here you can see the rusted driverside fender, rust which was hidden under the plastic wheel arch mouldings.

It was a hard choice to start with this work, I wish to gave it a new face, but otherwise I want to preserve the original face when I found it.

Since last scares with the transmission I was very decided to spend my money gaving to the AMC a new face and enjoy it definitively out of the garaje. The problem will be to choose a proper paint (garnet, copper or even a matt finish brown paint).

These are the paint options I am considering, but I am not sure about the paint codes. The oldest, 1981-1984 Eagles maybe cooper or chestnut paint, and the 1986-1988 Eagle, I am not sure if it is garnet or another kind or "red vintage" paint.

Thanks to both, IowaEagle and Carnuck, but the problem isn´t to get the paint codes, the problem is to be sure how accurate are my paint charts or the web paint charts compared to the color I see in the previous pictures, in order to identify correctly the paint.

Over the internet I saw a lot of pics of AMCs painted in cooper brown and sometimes it looks like orange and another times it looks like brown. This is my problem.

Also I need to repair the driverside seat, it has various coil springs broken so I need a pillow to sit at a proper height to be able to drive and see the traffic thru the windshield. Without the pillow the seat is very low due to the broken springs.

Here you could see the driver seat and my helpful pillow on the cargo area of my daily ride.

And this is my daily ride, a green Ford fiesta from 2000, hidden by a Nissan Stanza w/ New Jersey plates living in my overseas town, in Spain.

In my town, overseas in Spain, there are a little more cars with US plates, like an old european Peugeot US-specs and an 80´s Toyota Corolla both with NY plates, also time ago there were also a Lexus from NY and a Mercedes SLK with Virginia plates, now both have spanish license plates.

if your getting the car professionaly painted you should be able to have them spray a sample card and compare it to a factory color chip card that the shop may have or the paint supplier may have.

ebay also has them for sale as well http://www.ebay.com/itm/1984-AMERICAN-MOTORS-RENAULT-JEEP-EAGLE-ALLIANCE-PAINT-CHIPS/400431506485?rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m1851&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D17215%26meid%3D656649389422124428%26pid%3D100005%26prg%3D8039%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D400431506137%26
