Going to cut the tank out of the parts car tomorrow by cutting the rear body and sliding pins out. Hope this is fast and saves the hangers on the other side..
I remember somewhere a post of a thread about being able to use a Cherokee tank on a Kammback
Anyone seen that or help me with that possibility?

Knew it was around. At work of coarse and sometimes hard to look.
That makes it look so easy.. Feel better about letting you have the old SX4 tank now. Appears the straps are all that holds it up and I can at least get it dropped. We shall see.

Let me know how the removal goes of the SX/4 tank! Give me an assessment of the condition when you can get a better look at it too!

Cut the tank out of the SX/4. ground through the rear body around the pins and dropped it. Thanks to Zach for assistance with that.

Has slight surface rust across the top. but nothing going through.
filler tube is removed and looking inside it is bright clean metal.
Something is rolling around inside. Part of the sending unit?

But I think it's going to get Penny on the road..
Another part of the XJ that I'll use.

Anyone know about the gas gauge was it determined how that works between the 2?

I haven't tackled the fuel gauge issue as of yet, it will read, but it will when High on the scale, meaning half tank is actually empty, lol, full is way beyond F. My thoughts on fixing this, if you have the original unit, is to mate the old level sender to the chero unit. I haven't tried it yet, I may this year since I now have the parts to do so.
