Got another update. Sounds like the 4.0 is getting close. They said I should get a new timing chain. And they are also going to remove the emissions stuff! Hope it will pass MO inspection. I also went ahead and got the 195* thermostat, new water pump, and new clutch for the T-5. Oh and I had purchased new motor mounts, but they said the ones on there looked fine. So there's a little bit of money I'll get back.

I feel much better about the whole thing now after having talked to the shop manager yesterday. Sure hope this thing can be all buttoned up before Christmas! I'll be heading up to KC on the 27th. Sure would be awesome to take the train there and drive my Eagle back home!

Hopefully they do manage to finish engine swap before Christmas.

Inspection need. But that may just have to be addressed when it comes.

Visited Penny in the hospital this weekend. The 4.2 is out and it sounds like they'll be ready to drop in the 4.0 this week...well maybe next week since Christmas is this week. Was good to see her though and see that progress is being made. Here are some pics I took while I was there.

Passenger side frame rail from inside the engine bay.

Driver side frame rail from inside the engine bay. Looking like a little bit of rust is starting to show up.

Both of my rear side markers are looking kinda rough.

And here was the old tired 4.2L!!

Now would be a good time to at the very least spray paint those side rails under the upper control arms, especially the driver side. If it rusts out, your steering goes kaput.

Well they had me take some stuff home that they didn't need for the project and I get a call today that one of those things was the Oil Sump for the 4.2 which they need. Uhg! So luckily my GF was already coming to see me for Christmas so I'll have to send that back to her after this weekend and have her stop by the shop to give it to them.

In the meantime I asked if they could clean up those two spots in the engine bay that are starting to rust and through on some rust prevention stuff. Would love to have the whole bay cleaned up and painted, but I just can't afford to have them do that on my dime!

I can understand that. I honestly don't care that much if my engine bay is super clean looking, because I know it never will be, but I would gladly brush or spray on some cheap paint to prevent even the slightest bit of rust. I know I'll be doing it each year anyway, so at least it's a little protection. Mine has random spots of black all over where rust was lol.

Good to hear she's about ready for her new heart. Good luck with her Rafe. Looks pretty solid.
