Well I have myself a new project. I just decided I'm calling it Penny...cause it's kind of a penny color! It's a pretty nice start...not a show piece like my old wagon so I'm excited to get it going and just have some fun with it. I'm keeping my Festiva as a DD, but will probably drive this around most weekend and hit up some shows in the summer...if it all works out!

It's a 1983 AMC Eagle SX/4 Sport
5 speed
Sunroof
Rear Window Louvres
Center Gauges Console
Black Interior
Fog Lights

I bought it not running, but hopefully it doesn't take too much to get it flying again. I did try starting it this weekend, but was not having any luck. I got a new battery and spark plugs.

Here are the initial pictures.
Proud owner with his keys to his new toy! :)

Yes, the aviators are crooked, but I found them in the car and I had to wear them!

Yes, one of the tires wasn't holding air so the spare is mounted currently. I do have the wheel and tire.
Image

Foglights! Only one of them came on and both are a bit rusty.
Image

Louvres!
Image

Little rust showing here. Surface only.
Image

Both turn signals are cracking.
Image

Image

Passenger door has a small dent just about the SX/4 decal...well above the molding just above the SX/4 decal.

Image

When the key was in the on position the clock didn't appear to be working so I'm not sure if it's all working properly
Image

Anyone seen one of these things before?
Image

Drivers seat does have a small rip in it.
Image

Mirror is missing the adjuster thing...not sure if it's just fallen back into the door or what. And the trim around the handle has a crack in it.
Image

Image

Sunroof!!

Image

Both visors are torn up and the mounts are cracked. I think I have one replacement in black already.

that beauty is an awsome start! i cant wait to see what you do with it. now you got a use for your wheels. ;-) im real jelous of the louvers tho. the clock should be working when the battery is hooked up. not just when the key is on. the turnsignal lenses, the clear spirit lenses are a great look with yellow bulbs i think. hope you can get it running easily and quickly. good luck on it!

Excellent starting point. And, an intact hood release handle. Minimal options but nothing wrong with that. Good to see they opted for the gauge package.

Awesome car!!!!

I know right!

Several right on the sunroof!

Next week I'm going to try to get Penny to my house in Rolla. It will require renting a trailer and possibly a truck and will range from 100 to nearly 300 bucks in rental fees. Plus a 220 mile trip in gas!

If you end up needing them, I've got a good driver side mirror, with the adjuster cable, and a good bezel for the door panel too.

Might have to take you up on that. I need to get the car to my house and start cataloging what I need to replace/upgrade. And of course get it running!

Is your drivers mirror the chrome or black? ...and it is the sport mirror?

Could just have a bad ignition module if there is no spark. Maybe pop in one of those HEI units and do away with most of the guess work.

After cranking it only a few times and double checking I had the plugs in snug I removed each of them and they all had carbon build up on them already. They were brand new.
