My son-in-law is interested in this one. I knew he had good taste. He asked me for comments and I gave him some, but I bet he would welcome others. Now I need to get him to join.

For your son-in-law: Looks like a great starting point with plenty of option for upgrades. Could use more pictures, especially underneath. The great thing about the 4 cyl is that they came with rare 3.54 gearing to help them along. If you decide to swap in a 6 cyl (or even V8 if you're brave enough), you will have plenty of low end torque and off the line acceleration. You'll want to be dainty with the 4spd shifter if it's an SR4 transmission, as they are fragile and scarce. Otherwise, look into a T4 or T5 to swap, they bolt in.

From the pictures, it appears to be in better shape than most Eagles. I can see it doesn't have a passenger mirror, I suppose it was the option delete. If you check it out, see if it has a rear sway bar. That's another rare option, usually found on SX/4s and towing Eagles from what I've found, and adds an entirely new dimension to Eagle handling and cornering. The wheels look interesting, and I can see it has all 4 bumper end caps intact. If it's running well and in as good a shape as it looks, $1500 is a steal. :amc:

its too far away from me to buy it, and if im out there, I want to bring an mj home instead. from what ive heard, the western sd cars are not as rusty as the ones over here in eastern sd. I do not know if that is true though.

Pretty much what I have shared with him so far. Being an Iron Duke it would have the SR4 and passenger side mirrors were an option on what appears to be a Base Model unless the DL logos were not put back on. And, if it is a base model there is a good chance it has non wood grain dash, which in my opinion would have looked nice in Sport models. About a third of the '82 models were 4 cylinder cars.

nope they came with both 4 and 5 speeds ...... 4 speeds seem to be more common

Allegedly, you could get only the 5 speed in '82 with the I-6, but then other sources say it was available for both engines. That is what is so fun about AMC, you just never knew. In '83 it was available for both engines.
