Second Place trophy out of the seven cars in the Survivor class. Ironically, I got beat out by another Independent, a very nice Studebaker. The other AMC there, a Jeep J20 received 2nd place in the Truck class, being beat out by a Studebaker pickup. A good day for the independents. Third place in the survivor class was a nice Model A, although I would not call it a "true" survivor did have an older restoration. A fella there with a '57 Plymouth Belvedere that had been fully restored also entered it in the survivor class and then threw a fit when he did not win anything. He accused the sponsors of cheating, he was really incensed that an AMC product won.

The Trophy

My Ambassador at the show. I got there early and the other survivor cars are not seen in this picture.

The really nice Studebaker I lost to. He deserved first place.

The Jeep J20 the only other AMC product there. He came in second, losing to a Studebaker pickup.

Sounds like he was jealous. Does restored count as a survivor? Thought I read somewhere it meant all original (paint, etc.)? Maybe different at different shows?

I don't think the restored ones should have counted. Like you said, they have to have patina and the dings, scratches and wear and tear of the years. Some of the "survivors" just did not want to enter the group they should have and the hosts were pretty lenient. The groups were pretty broad. All the GM's except Camaro's went into one big group and the Fords except for Mustang went into another broad group. There were only three Fords there, not counting the Model A and the Mustangs. The Studebaker, my car a very nice garage kept, original owner, '68 Camaro appeared to be the only true survivors. The Camaro won best of show -- it only has a little over 10,000 miles on the odometer.

Thanks Shagg. That J20 would be nice to have too.

Agreed, that would make a perfect hauler to take the xj to offroad runs, and the malibu to the racetrack, lol.

Contests Doug on second place! A j truck is on my list of vehicles to own someday, as I think they are cool. I managed to go to a car show today also. No amc prooducts, or anything in the orphan class for that matter. Burnout contest was fun though. I can still smell the smell of burning rubber.
