I would have paid more but he was the one who offered it for 500. I was willing to go to 1500 for the car if given the chance. This is the one who went out of business and instead of selling his AMC parts he had them hauled to the junkyard and scrapped. Took at least 5 or 6 truck loads of parts, and about 12 cars (1 J-10, 1 Pacer, 2 Javelins, and more. This was after someone came by and offered to buy all his AMC stuff.

The 'almost' ironic thing is, they never get it. These turds get a couple of cars, figure they're gonna be the 'mother load', let them rot, won't sell them, the person continually hold out for $$$ they want, and as they hold out, the cars become worth less and less, until the cars become totally useless and worth nothing.

Yeah, that's got Mensa written all over it.

last year case in point ....... my buddy's neighbor had a 70 something corvette that sat in the weeds for YEARS to the point the rims where about half emerged in the dirt. Guy wouldn't sell it, wouldn't sell it, gonna restore that some day. well the day finally came that i guess a family member talked him into letting the car go. We sat on the porch and watched them try and push and dig the car out for 5 hours, towards the evening a roll back showed up and they hooked the winch line to the frame of the car. a few moments later the front half of the car was free and there sitting in the dirt layed the rear section of the car. The years and years of letting that poor car sit in the weather all caught up and what where they left with but 2 halves of a corvette that wasn't even worth the gas to take it to the shredder.

this guy had no intent to restore anything, he just would not sell anything either. There were numerous attempts by buyers to purchase part or all of the stuff. He had a whole section of shelving with brake rotors and drums, same with ignition parts, radios (over a 150 of them), 50 canvas tops and doors for the CJ, carpet, etc. I purchased my Eagle about 10 months after he threw the stuff to the junkyard. I know of one fender and I think 2 more was in a pile of parts on the floor. The rear mystery is what the junkyard did with the stuff. It was never seen again.
