would it have been possible to use a stock 258 intake on a 4.0 or are the ports different?

Yes, one could use a factory 258 intake (at least an 81 and newer, not sure about the older ones). The offy I used is a direct replacement for an 81-90 258. The only thing you have to do would be to grind crescents on the bottoms of the dowel pin bosses, the 258 intake sits on top of the dowel pins due to the 4.0's higher intake ports. That was my original plan, using a 2100 carb, but, a load of 4bbls were given to me and umm, the knuckle dragger in me had to use one  .

Yes, next up is the hooking up of the aw4 electronics, I have to go through my research yet to find out my specifics on exactly how I made everything work. Pictures only go so far in this case, lol.
