I got the head and oil pan off the old motor but haven't had a chance to do anything with the "new" one yet.

well I got the engine in last night (not a fun task). I still have to finish putting the rest of the bolts that hold the transmission and engine together, as well as hooking up all of the accessories, reinstalling the radiator, getting a new starter and a new coolant temperature sensor, sorting out all the vacuum lines, and building a new exhaust. I took a few pictures from just before the motor went in and right after I got it bolted in, sorry the first two didn't turn out very well but the last one looks alright and here they are.

Looking good! I got mine going but the engine might be shot....low oil pressure. At least the fuel injection is working good now but I might have to get a 4.0 to shove in it now.

Someone dug up a book that said the industrial version 258 is supposed to run straight 50 weight in hot climates. I think I'll just stick with the 15W50 synthetic Napa oil myself. 60 PSI cold and 40 hot.

thanks. it could just be the oil pump but if not then that sucks. I found an odd shaped hole in Survivors old block right behind where the timing chain goes that has me thinking it may not be any good and if that's the case then i'll have a spare crank and rods for a stroker motor.

there is an oil galley plug somewhere on the front of the block...that might be it.

well this hole is oddly shaped with rough edges and it is inside the timing cover. I will get a pic of it tomorrow after work.

IT LIVE'S well sort of . I got everything on the motor assembled and put together other than the vacuum lines and the exhaust. I just have one really big problem now, I have no idea where the vacuum lines go .

how much of the vac system are you using? if you did the smogectomy, you need:

ported vac from carb to dist.

manifold vac to 4x4

manifold vac to power brake booster

if an a/c car, manifold vac to a/c control

if cruise control, manifold vac to cruise system.

if your using the factory craptastic vac stuff, there SHOULD be a vac diagram sticker. if its gone, let me know. I can get a diagram. hell, someone may already have one in the wiki. I got rid of all the vac crap on honeybadger. its not got cruise, a/c or anything. I only needed vac for dizzy, brakes, and 4x4. my "rotty wagon" is a/c and cruise. I got to finish its smogectomy and get it DONE. I want to drive it badly now!!!
