thanks maddog, I will have to look into making myself one. would like to find a way to protect the half shafts as well

Because of their movement it would be tough, but a piece of a small barrel cut to fit over the outboard part of the joint from behind would be best. I forget how close it came to the coil spring when I tried on my first wagon (20+ years ago)
